Thought about traditional and one length irons

Are most traditional iron sets 1/2" difference in length between each iron?
If so has a company tried to design a set with 1/4" or 1/8" differences in iron lengths. Sort of a split the difference.

The older I get, the better one length irons look

I always thought that the one length might be better for a bad back, but I'm not sure if that is true or not.

I’ve never looked into 1 length. Are the lengths and lies changed a lot to get the distances out of each club?

I’ve played Wishons, Edel, and Cobra OL.
Wishon uses different metal faces to help split the gaps. Liked these the best for price point but too much offset and a 5i that felt and sounded like a hybrid made me switch.
Edel has three different shafts to help with the trajectories. Great feeling but terribly unforgiving in longer irons.
The newer Cobras are best of both worlds. Forged, minimal offset, forgiving, and affordable. They’ve come a long way since the initial batch.
I got away from full bag as my scoring irons lacked feel with the OL. I carry a few OL clubs for longer clubs in my back and the VL for scoring for best of both worlds.
OL irons feel like cheating though.

I was playing 6,5,4 I one.length. didn't like the short irons in that length.

I’ve thought about one length for 6 and 7 irons.
How many degrees difference in loft would be appropriate?
5 degrees, 6 with same length?

Lofts remain the same as variable. Depends o the oem but some tinker with shafts.

I tried a set of Cobras that a friend bought and didn't like. I did like the fact that I hit longer, especially on the higher lofted clubs. They take a lot of getting use to and I probably didn't give them enough time.
