You definitely need to be over 115 swing speed to get any benefit from a 5.5 loft.
Many years ago when I use to enter Longdrive events I used a 6.5 degree Bang head and a 7 degree Zeider head.
I used Harrison and Penley shafts at 48"
Zeider head were so deep and low spin, you had to go all out on every swing to get lift.
Biggest difference today is the ball. Today balls are so low spin and resist curvature.
Most Pros use a lot more loft these days, Chambo is going down a dangerous road. It could reap some early benefits, but it can also ruin his swing.

True.
There is examples of where guys like David Duval who make drastic physical changes can hurt their swings.
But to be fair, these guys have plenty of quality trainers around them, so I am sure they are getting good advice too.
