What is the 1000 yd challenge?

A contest at Southern Oaks. He posts to Instagram pretty much daily with someone trying to make a par (5) on a 1000 yard hole (I assume). I think it’s up to like 70+ days. If you do it, you win $1000 cash. I heard him saying yesterday, that people that have done it will be given another opportunity but have to pay to get back in. So I guess you get one free opportunity, but he films it and you go on their Instagram page.

They are using 3 holes together to make 1000 yds. If you par it you get $1k. Its hard, and nobody has done it. I've tried to get a couple friends who are really good to go do it, but they refuse because they don't want to be filmed failing.

I’ve played there a few times. Do you know which 3 holes?

I haven’t played there before but they tee off towards hwy 14 that fairway and towards the back left corner of the course if you are looking g at it from hwy 14. It’s been tough on a lot of guys, I’d say most to even stay in bounds. Plus there is water in play on the second and I think the third shot. Definitely the second. I’ve watched pretty much all of them and only a few have had a putt for par. A few have had a chip. Most go OB or in the water. It’s tough and long.

Short course, but lots of trouble!

No shite. I used driver 5 times (played the back tees). Not my usual. Eagled the 6th or 7th on the front. Whichever par 5 it is. Had 180 out. The other par 5 on the front I hit a perfect or so I thought drive and had no clue where the green was. Even staring at a GPS. If I played it a few times, I would possibly shoot under par. The greens are so tiny and turtle back so short game better be on point. If you played there a lot and got decent there, other “longer, difficult” courses would actually be easier as long as you got off the tee.
