Played the islands. Course is in great shape. Greens are fantastic right now. Had an eagle on #7 par 5. Was doing great and imploded on #18 par 5. Shot a dang 83. One day soon 70s one day.
Such a frustrating game sometimes

Did you start thinking about your final score before you finished the round? Threw you off a little? Still a great round tho!

Always focus on the next shot. I know it’s hard, but it’s essential

I agree, I’m just wondering if he started doing a little mental math on that 18th hole and it just got away from him. Just curious

Best advice I ever got was to keep the peddle down. For a long time, my thought process was "four more pars, and I can shoot 75.". Now it is"four birdie opportunities left, let's get this under par"
I don't necessarily change how I play it is just a change of mindset that helps a ton. And I don't ever make the 4 birdies, but it helps me not finish bogey-bogey-double-par.

I do this as well. My mindset is “I need another birdie to make up for the inevitable bogey or double bogey coming up “. I just keep this mindset until I run out of holes.

I shot 81 couple weekends ago with a triple bogey on 9

Focusing on score kills you. I had the round of my life going, got rained out the last 3 holes. Had all night to think about it to go back the next day and play 3 holes many times I’d played 3 under.
Bogey, bogey, bogey. Haunts me still 30 years later.
