Anyone here use shotscope? Thoughts? Was thinking of getting to track my actual yardages, etc.

I enjoy mine. Provides good distances to F/C/B of green and hazards. Especially good when playing a new course. I like the fact it can track my shots (and stats) and I can just play golf, not play with the watch. You do have to edit after the round to clean a few things up (or track putts if you don't do it on the green).

I've had the V3 for two years and love it. I don't use it so much for club distance. They have the P average which uses a formula to weed out large variances and is supposed to be more reliable than a simple average. I'm pretty long with my irons, but there's no way I'm as long as the P averages say.

They've really ramped up their strokes gained data. I enjoy going back through my round and looking at how each shot compares to various handicaps. I will say that there is probably 5-10 minutes of editing you have to do after a round to get it more accurate, but I enjoy using that as a way to think about decisions made and things to improve while I do it.

One of the coolest new things is showing your shots from all your rounds on courses you played. If you play a course a lot, this could be helpful on making decisions in the future based on all the shot data presented.

Just started using the V3. I have about 5 rounds logged so far. Mixed feelings. Obviously the more rounds, the more data to help you analyze your game.
Gotta remember to log the putts! Gives you a decent account for how far you are actually hitting shots.

I'd say the putting data quality is the most lacking. The shots and pins can be way off when you go to edit. I don't really blame Shotscope for that. The others shots are easy to track because the full swing makes it obvious where the swing took place. Unless you wiggle your putter like a madman before each putt, it's less obvious where putts take place. The only solution would be to have the golfer click the watch before each putt, which would be annoying. By the time I get around to editing, I can't remember exactly where putts were, did I leave it in front or past the hole, etc.

I agree. It's gets you in the ballpark, but not precise at all. The rest of the data is very interesting. Didn't realize that so many of my shots ended up on the left of center fairway. I think it will eventually help. Playing this Saturday, so I'll get more data!
