I mostly play a fade to slice with my driver but it seems like on big shots where I know I can get the distance, I pull my irons left.
Is this a tempo thing?
What are some thoughts and recommendations?

I over power my shafts from time to time and draw it left. Not sure if that's what you're doing or not. I'll also rotate through quicker and close the club face down when trying to pick up a few extra yards.

most likely Coming over the top/outside in with a closed face if its a full pull.

Work on inside out swing path drills and closing the face correctly.

If its a draw or hard draw, just ease your doorknob turn with your hands/face closing.

Could I be bringing my right shoulder out too much?

This is probably the culprit or at least it was for me.

I played a fade/slice. Now, I hit a nice draw.

towel drill helped me a ton. Also, swinging with a 2X4 a few inches from the ball. You'll learn to keep everything inside/underneath quick.

Jesus Christ! You know a bath sponge will serve the same purpose.

Yes, tuck that sucker in and think about turning your body/torso vs turning your actual shoulders.

I put it on the outside and a little in front because I am too shallow.

Sponge even with front of ball, just on the outside of the ball, leave an inch of space and make sure the club is coming inside.

Look up Vijay water bottle drill on YouTube.

Morikawa puts a glove on a lanyard and tucks the glove under his lead armpit. Same drill, but you don't have to keep picking a towel up until you get it down.

Isn't the idea to tuck your trail arm though?

Lead arm would be more of a chicken wing issue type drill right?

Interesting drill though as well, just curious.

Not for me, I'm a bit dense

I start slow and speed up. I don't even use full swings. I'm mainly grooving the bottom of the swing and move it to full swing.

Getting advice from me on how to correct your swing is like asking me what is wrong with your car. I know very little about either, and would probably be wrong most of the time.

See a teaching pro. Get a video of your swing.

Good luck.

It's a path issue if they are dead pulls.
