Holy shite it was in terrible shape. Weeds, grass unkept, bunkers were awful too
Played it today. Wasn't the most immaculate course I've ever played, but it was in good shape. Greens were coming in nicely. Fairways were in great shape. I saw some weeds near the tee boxes but nothing outrageous.
Overall I'd say condition was a 7/10, which for a muni that gets as much play as south does, that's pretty good.

Golf course was in as good a shape as anything around for State Am and Mackel. Greens were crazy fast and fairways perfect. Place has always been able to turn the screw and get it in great shape when they need to, but the operation they have going is kind of a joke. The management, restaurant, and pro shop are lacking and that's putting it mildly. Such a shame for the massive amount of money spent. Reese Jones was a terrible pick to re-design it and the poor decisions kept going from there. Will be very interesting to see what LIV coming and the money they'll invest does for it. Better grow the rough knee high if they want to protect it from someone shooting -30 for 54 holes.
