Courses are closing all over the 50. The game needs an injection of something. My group group over beers Saturday that iver 24 courses have closed in the Houston area in the past 15 years. That number is staggering and it accelerated when Tigers decline started.

It’s a needed correction from too many courses being built in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Golf participation is up.

And Houston golf courses have been killed due to flooding issues

This. Too many built and never made a dime. It is a miracle many are open now. Has nothing to do with tiger or Patrick reed.

but I love his game

Same man, I use to hate the guy even before the cheating. But his attitude and his swagger on the course makes him one of my favorite golfers now.

Some course operators in Houston are just greedy and dumb.

Like Meadowbrook farms, Monday thru Thursday, they are lucky to have 10 cars in the parking lot. Its because their rates are ridiculous, drop the rate 20-25 bucks, fill the course and profit from the concessions.

Something else happened too at that time. It rhymes with recession

That's the thing about cheaters, everyone takes a man for honest until they know he cheats. After that, you know it is always a possibility.

Back when I played high school golf, our biggest rival school had a guy that always shot "low 70s". They put me with him one time early in the season and I kept an eye on him and stayed close to him the whole round and he shot mid 80s. I would call all of his bullshite where he would move it in the rough or around roots and he would just fall apart. They always paired me with him no matter what spot he was in because I could keep him in check and wasn't afraid to call him out. That guy had a bad reputation that stuck with him for years.

Patrick Reed is in a similar situation now, if he never cheated again he might never shake it due to the stage he was on when he did it. And it doesn't help that I have never seen him apologize for it either so you don't think he learned his lesson about it. 1 or 2 shots in a tournament could have meant the difference in a million dollars over the season.
