You will never hit a ball as well as you will during a fitting.

Why does it take so long to get adjusted to new irons…. Even when they were fitted to you? Makes no sense

It’s not wanting to frick them up bc they are all shiny and new. So, you don’t hit down on them like you should.

Then, you give in and start puring them. That wear off after a while and it’s time to shop for new ones. It’s a sick and vicious cycle my friend.

This is why I buy used clubs..l they’ve been dinged up and broken in. All I have to do is wear in the hosel with my hosel shots

Most of the time the fitter changes something with your swing instead of just fitting to your swing. Then you forget and go back to your old swing. Also depending where you get fit turf is always easier to hit off of than grass. Also ur more than likely hitting shafts that have been worn in and the new ones you get are a tad stiffer.

BallChamp00,

Your points are true.

Sometimes fitters just help themselves and they turn into a instant 60 minute golf teacher.

A green grass fitting is always more realistic.

The last time I was fitted was years ago. I'd already purchased the iron set, just wanted to get them honed in for my height and swing. Back in those days, and perhaps now, they would put some sort of contact tape on the bottom of the club to determine where you make contact with the turf. Man, I was grooving absolutely everything that day...as if there were zero adjustments to be made.

Days later, and having thought about it more, I think it was as simple as me consciously trying to strike down on the ball to ensure the tape got a good mark on it. Got the clubs back, that swing thought never crossed my mind again, and my iron strikes were all over the place again.
