New clubs advice

Just turned 50. Don’t play as much as I used to. I shot single digits above par in my 20s, but now shooting in the mid 80s. Not so much loss of power from age, but just lack of playing consistently.
Anyway, I have Mizuno mp-30 irons (muscle-backs) which I’ve had for over 15 years. Was wondering if I should consider something newer given my age and possibly take advantage of modern tech improvements in new irons. Also not sure if I should consider hybrids for the longer irons.
Oh, and I’m left handed so its not so easy to try out someone else’s clubs.
I scheduled a fitting (tomorrow) at local store to see what they recommend, but appreciate any suggestions you have…

Absolutely move away from the MBs in my opinion. Sure it's great when you flush them, but the forgiveness in today's irons will help you.
As far as hybrids, that's different for everyone. I personally don't have one in the bag but don't have any gaps

See how the fitting goes. Keep an open mind. Express your opinion on feel and look. You need a club that inspires confidence and provide the results you want.

Nice you’ve got the fitting lined up. You should def try hitting the Srixon Zx5’s and 7’s. They are gold. If the fitter will allow it, I’d suggest taking some clubs to an actual range. So you can see flight and get a better feel for the club. I just picked up the Srixons three months ago and love em.

well,
I got the fitting and ended up pulling the trigger on new P790 irons. Of all the one I've tried, the 790's had the best combination of long vs forgiving. I could not believe the difference from my Mizuno MP-30s. My Mp-30 7 iron was carrying about 155. The 790 was carrying about 175-180. I know today's iron lofts are different than my 15-year-old clubs, but didn't expect that kind of difference.
I was also surprised to learn that my swing speed was still over 100mph so I can stay with a stiff flex shaft. At 50yrs old, I was expecting to be in the 90's.
As for my woods, I found a good deal on some "like-new" Taylormade M2s (3 wood and 5 wood), and a used good condition Sim 2 Max driver.
Hope I made some good choices. Irons wont be in till April so its gonna be a long 3 months...
