Carter Plantation charges close to the same and is a much better golf course.

Time and Vehicle Costs to get to Carter. Plus, Carter Plantation isn't located in South BR where it can get over 30,000 rounds per year.

They may lose some customers but they need to balance out increase with lost customers. Plus, a much better experience with 4 hour rounds and less people and less wear and tear on course.

RTJ in Alabama are all public and have no problems charging more. Baton Rouge could use different levels of public courses. Entry, Mid-Level and Premium.

I also think Santa Maria needs a better Marshaling program to keep rounds closer to 4 hours

I agree here. Most courses would benefit from marshals helping keep pace on the course.

You could go up on price at Santa Maria and still not see a big change in number of rounds because it's the only decent game in town.

Louisville’s ten municipal courses

Louisville metro has a population of 1.3 million.

Houston metro has a population of 7 million. And it has 4 muni golf courses.

Seems like there's probably some room to prune.

If you go to a BR Metro public golf course anytime except Saturday and Sunday Mornings you will see BR has plenty of room to trim. Also, go anytime during Winter. Empty.

RTJ courses are public but look at their facilities. Top notch operation, great practice facilities, and excellent conditions. RTJ blows Santa Maria out of the water.

And there is no reason BR cannot have a top notch course available to the public. RTJ charges up to $150 at some courses. I am not lobbying for that kind of increase but no reason they cannot be raised to allow for a marshaling program. Then from there continue to improve and become a top notch operation.

Not for nothing, but Santa Maria is a RTJ.

If you're going to raise them, provide a golf experience that is going to warrant the raise. Don't raise them because the operating costs are outweighing the intake and still provide a subpar experience. If it gets to that point then the course needs to close.

Santa Maria is the nicest course in the area that is fully public and as nice as the semi privates or even nicer. The only real knock on Santa Maria is slow play. It gets well over 30,000 rounds per year played on it. There is plenty of room to increase prices as it is now.

However, I am advocating as part of the increase they fix the slow play issue. If people want cheaper golf there are plenty of other options nearby or you can purchase an Annual Pass.

Should BREC buy the range on Seigen, put in a nice practice green like at Santa Maria, and make sure the grass is proper turf? Seems like Santa Maria's practice facility gets run ragged during the week, and it isn't big enough. Having a full time range with lights with a good practice facility may pay for itself and subsidize some of the other courses. That or purchase the range at Sherwood?

I think BREC should re-imagine Webb and/or City Park Golf Facilities to include a nice practice area/range and a Par 3 course.
