beat me like a drum yesterday!!
awesome layout with links-like rough and lots of huge, deep bunkers lining the fairways and greens. varying elevation all over.
cant wait to let it abuse me again next year!

I’ve been told by a would be investor when the designer came to view the site, he commented that he was designing the course without moving any dirt. Just build the greens and tees. It was that natural of a setting.

Yea, Gil Hanse came in and said it was perfect land for what he wanted to do. That was his first course after he designed the Olympic course in Brazil and now he is the biggest name in course design/renovation.
I grew up playing at Old Waverly across the street and when they built Mossy Oak it became a great golf destination. Still crazy to me there are two top 100 courses in West Point MS

Went meet a group there not long ago and played both. Your quote was my exact reaction driving in to West Point.
Great courses, really enjoyed both.

Glad you enjoyed them! It’s a great place for a stay and play during football season too. Waverly has a lot of condos that you can book and play at both courses then drive 15 minutes to Starkville for the game
