I've taken quite a few lessons over the years, but of course they weren't free. Well, I won a Masters contest on facebook picking DJ to win, and I won a free 1-hr lesson. Do I need to tip the pro? Might be a dumb question but just wanting to make sure

If you feel like there was a value to your game, then you should tip him a commensurate amount

if Free, yes.

If not free, then no.

Did the pro put up the free lesson or did sone organization buy it from him then put it up as the prize?

Wouldn't it be the opposite? If the company put up this reward, then the pro giving the lesson gets a bit screwed in the deal. So, tipping seems like a nice gesture. If the pro put up the contest, then it's a form of advertising for him. If you like the lesson, scheduling another that you pay for would be enough in my opinion. The reason he did the contest is to get his name out there.

If the pro put it up, he likely donated it to the organization at no cost so he makes nothing. Tip him. If organization put it up, they likely paid him. He got money. Tip optional
