Are you making it a golf trip or are you just going for the tourney. If i were you, I would definitely play because you are gonna be in the best golf country in the world, in terms of quality and quantity of courses. I liken the first experience of true links golf as a deeply spiritual and almost religious experience. Anyways you are a lucky bastard

Is playing golf while you’re there a priority?
In Ayrshire there isn’t much to do but golf, but there is a lot of that. Turnberry is the best course in Scotland so I would do everything you can to try to play there. Otherwise try to get on and play any of the other courses around there, particularly western Gailes.
In Glasgow, there are a lot of restaurants and there is a nice Museum, otherwise not a ton to do IMO. Edinburgh is definitely the better town for tourists, it’s absolutely stunning and pretty close to Glasgow.
Driving there can be stressful, particularly on smaller roads. It can take longer than you think to drive to places, so be aware of that.
Trains on the other hand are pretty good and very fast. Train will get you from Glasgow to Troon, Glasgow to Edinburgh in little time. From Edinburgh, train could quickly get you to Gullane area where there are lots of courses or St Andrews area which is further out.
I’m less familiar with distilleries but there don’t seem to be a lot in immediate viscinity of Glasgow. The biggest distilleries are in the highlands which is pretty far from Glasgow. The isle of Arran is accessible by ferry (you must prebook ferries in Scotland fyi) and not too far. You can also take a train to Oban thru Loch Lomond and the Trossarchs, which would likely be a georgeous trip though not sure how long it would take.
Another option is to take a flight from glasgow to Ireland or the highlands to get away from the crowds
