I used to hope I would break 90. Would get frustrated if I didn’t and happy when I did. I had some good golf and some bad golf mixed into the round. Now I try to break 75 with some good golf and some bad golf mixed in. I am no more happy when I break 75 now than I was breaking 90. I am no more aggravated shooting above 75 now than I was shooting above 90. Pretty much my level of enjoyment of the game or aggravations hasn’t changed even though my scores have improved. I am also much less physically capable now than I was 25 years ago when I hoped to break 90, which proves to me it is largely mental once you have a certain skill set. Golf is a weird sport.

I’m about the same. Break 80 a few times and average around 85. Didn’t realize that it’s above average.
