My father n law works for a company where he has the privilege of entertaining clients with things like hunting trips and golf excursions.
This has allowed him to take many expensive golf trips on the company dime and play places like the Old Course at St. Andrews and such.
A few year ago, 2014, when the Ryder Cup was at the Gleneagles Club in Scotland, he was supposed to meet up with some clients who had a certain portion of the stands on the first tee reserved.
Arriving late, as he usually does, and being a very gregarious and charismatic guy, he walked up to the guy who introduces the players before teeing off.
Apparently, he impressed the man and in his deep Scottish accent the announcer said," Now from the USA, looking for his party of xxx, Bill _______!"
He told me the entire crowd erupted in a loud cheer, and the people in his party stood and waved him upward as the crowd continued to cheer him on.
My father n law tells the story better than me, but he had me entertained.

I need to ask Croacka unless you're playing with him.

I assume no handicaps in order to make this work? Otherwise very risky if you don't know everyone.

I live in north Louisiana and have played in a few tournaments at greystone. They are top notch with the meals provided, cart girl service, tee gifts and overall atmosphere. I have no skin in the game, jmo

You can find better tournaments out there but you better have a super expensive membership and 1200 dollar entry fee

Are the greens simply punched or plugged? I have a tee time Wednesday, and don't want to play on plugged greens.

They are healing up nicely but still a little slow.

Should be great for the tourney.

I'll be on my honeymoon though

How many flights did they have last year?

Are they expecting more this year?

There were 32 teams last year. 4 flights with 8 teams each. Not sure about this year.

ETA: 38 teams signed up already. Max is 52. 4 to 6 flights depending.

Already up to 46 teams signed up. 6 spots left. If you want in, you need to call.

I've legit heard the "these guys can really put on a tournament" line from almost every Greystone member on this site and every member I've had the fortune of playing with. I mean, down to the "they fill up within a day or two with multiple alternates" line. Is this the company line you get with a membership package?

I'm a member at CCL and I can tell you that this is the truth. Outside of BRCC and CCL, those guys are the best in the area. And this is coming from someone without a dog in the fight. Cody is also arguably the best amateur golfer in the GBR area right now...

Why doesn't Greystone take online tee times like everyone else?

Website is lacking in general. But it's partially due to being semiprivate and giving members priority. Members have access to online booking and can book 6 days out and guests without members get 2 days. They can get away with that because of how large the membership is.

Sure, whats your handicap? Also, I am not 100% in yet. I need to see how this weekend goes. It'll be a Monday/Tuesday decision.

Well crap, I've got a big tournament this weekend. 2 in a row may be too much. For some reason my wife thinks we need to hangout on the weekends. I don't get it.

If you find another partner, go ahead. If not, Ill check back Monday morning and see if there are spots.

You could just sign up and cancel if you need to. I'm sure there will be alternates
