What are the current green conditions at the different BREC courses right now? It's been a while since I played, and I know they can ebb and flow pretty substantially.

I am assuming you are more interested in Beaver Creek, Santa Maria or Webb but I played Clark Park today for the first time since the 1970s and was impressed with the greens.
I probably won’t wait another 50 years to go back.

Clark Park was actually one I was really curious about. Have not been since they put the work into it. Glad to hear that.

I’ll be at Clark tomorrow. We’ve given up on Santa Maria.

Cartpath only today. The fairways were pretty soaked from the rains we’ve been getting.

Last time I played it I was sad. Course used to be a real gem of a municipal course….was country club quality.

Dunno what happened….BREC closes Howell and Dumas and you would think the could funnel some resources into the good courses remaining… but doesn’t look like it

What happened to Santa Maria? Havent played it in probably 5 years since I moved from BR but used to play it all the time since it was right by my house.

SM gets too much play and not enough recovery or care. Damn shame

Beaver should be amazing in a couple more weeks after punching and dressing. Fairways look great

Clark has held up well since the reopen. Hopefully they don't let it go to shite. Greens need punched and dressed up. They are hard as rock but roll well

Copper just punched there's but they are nice. Roll slow but that will probably change when they decide to get a little more aggressive post redo

I played Webb today. Greens are full of weeds. Tee boxes were terrible - uneven, divots and weeds. Rough is high and wet.

Appreciate the knowledge. Know anything about the current situation at City Park?

SM is terrible. Played my last round out there.

Conditions were subpar and the fact that the marshals are friends with all the slow old farts out there has made it damn near unplayable.

Any course pros reading this, understand that slow pace is killing your revenue. 5.5 hours to play 18 isn’t acceptable

That’s why we quit. You see a marshall only to check your receipt. Slow play, greens are always rough, bunkers are garbage, too much hard pan, fairways are mowed too low.

My group drives an extra 30-45 minutes out of the way to play Clark, BC, or The Island now. I was a member of PP but just got tired of playing same course.

Sadly all of this is true. SM is the course I live closest to, yet a 90 minute round trip to BC is more time efficient because I can play more quickly there.

I LOVE playing there, but I'm not a member anymore. I got in on that anniversary special 5 or 6 years ago, but when that ran out, it didn't make sense to pay $179 a month to be a member when I only play from May-September.

That annuvsery special was the best golf deal in probably history.

I wish we had another course around with 36 holes or even 27 like Pelican

I still prefer SM over Webb. At least at SM you don’t have people on adjacent holes picking up/hitting your wayward tee shots. It’s gotten unbelievable. Every time I play there. Maybe I should just stay in the fairway.

The truth of this is unreal. Unfortunately, nothing about it will change until BREC gets rid of the buddy system allowing these guys to play for free for "volunteering" and hogging all of the prime, early morning tee times. My recipe to fix it and get the course back to what it could be for it's prime location:

1. No more free play for "volunteers"
2. Hire a few guys to work as marshals who actually enforce pace of play (even if you have to raise green fees, it would be so worth it to have an actual marshal on the course)
3. Close the course on Tuesday mornings to lower traffic and allow the maintenance crew a day to actually keep up things like the bunkers and greens
4. Raise the green fees to put more into maintaining the course/clubhouse and to keep out the hackers who also slow down pace of play (they will go to lower quality BREC courses as a result)

Simply making volunteers play for free after 2pm would solve this. As for raising the rates, they got plenty of money… they’re just spending it on NBR projects.
