I needed a break from Baton Rouge area courses, it can be hard finding a early morning tee time on the golf now app.
Anyway played Grand Ridge in Luling about 1.5 hrs away from Baton Rouge or 1 hour from prairiville depending on how you drive.
Greens were in nice condition, lots of roll off near edges. I did have a few - 3 putts which I’m not proud of for a 1.94 average.
Staff extremely helpful, played with some regulars which was nice and they showed me the course layout.
Very enjoyable

It's definitely becoming a hidden gem for south la golf.
Ida took out alot of trees and opened it up, making it both more forgiving and in better shape bc more grass can grow in the fairways/tee boxes.
I play it regularly and it's a fun track

Grand Ridge and Cypress Lakes are two courses I enjoy going to on the weekend outside of Nola. Reasonably priced too for a weekend round.

Number 17 kind of messed with my head, I just couldn’t picture the hole layout until I came upon my second shot.

I was a member when it was Willowdale in the 90's, Ida did the course a lot of good clearing out trees. Greens were always pretty good but fairways had trouble growing grass with so many trees. I play there occasionally since I live pretty close to it. I like Cypress Lakes layout better but they have had trouble with the greens.
