Golf Courses within 2-3 hours of Natchitoches

I know most of the Louisiana courses but looking for any courses I may not know about in Arkansas, Texas, or Mississippi that would be within 2 or 3 hours of Natchitoches. A buddy and I drove over and played Tempest, just outside of Longview yesterday.

Pine Dunes in Frankston, TX. Right at your three hour parameter. Supposed to be incredible and a great value.

Between Tempest, Pine Dunes, and Mystic Creek you have some incredible public options for a day trip

Just curious what were your thoughts of Tempest? I do some work for the course and love getting honest feedback.

I thought it was fantastic. Everything was in great shape from tee to green. A couple of holes had some really damp fairways, #1 and #2. Maybe some drainage issues? Other than it was awesome. I didn't score particularly well but while I found the course challenging, it was still fair. I'll play better on my next visit with knowing a little more on where to play the ball.
If you're familiar with the area, would you recommend any lodging in the area if me and some buddies were to return and make a weekend out of it?

I actually work out of New Orleans with ownership but they have Airbnb's on the course which is where I stay when I am onsite. The course is pretty challenging and is definitely one where you get better over time. I am used to flat tee shots, I lost several balls which I thought were good shots on blind approaches off the tee box.

Yep, Rayburn closed unfortunately. A damn shame. I always enjoyed playing there.

Rumor is it has been purchased & new owner is planning on getting all 27 holes ready for play. This is the talk around the Rayburn community. It is rumor & presented as such.

Found this article from back in June.

The potential owner of Rayburn Country Club & Resort appears to have big plans for the property should he procure ownership. The latest Rayburn Country Association newsletter says that businessman Joe Penland, Jr. plans to make the entity a “casual resort”, offering new amenities for Rayburn Country property owners and their guests.
Penland, who has lived in Rayburn Country for nearly a quarter-century, revealed his vision during a recent meeting with those property owners in a meeting at the now closed country club.
According to the plan, Penland wants to reopen the golf course by the fall of this year and make improvement to the facilities.
Among other changes is immediately refurbishing the hotel and swimming pool along with building a lazy river connected to the pool, and also a few changes to the restaurant and club.
Meanwhile, it appears that there are certain stipulations that the potential purchase of the property is hinged upon. One of which is financial support from the Rayburn Country Association.
There’s no word on when - if any – agreement might be made. KJAS News will continue to monitor for any changes.

Crown Colony is a very nice course when I played there about 5 years ago.
Still reccomend Pine Dunes though, it is great.
