The PGA Tours scoring average has improved by 5.5 shots compared to the 60's. About 10%.
While most of the courses are longer in length, technology and fitness has overcome that.
While the balls are definitely longer today, the biggest thing with balls today is that they fly so much straighter than the balls 30 years ago.
