For me at least flex is less about distance and more about control
Well it's usually the stiffer the shift then straighter it goes.
But if the player can't load a shaft properly, it's defeating the purpose of a fitting to begin with.

Can’t hit it, loose it right or snap hook it. Stiff flex? Draw, fade, can work it.
Unless it’s one of those 10k inertia heads, I get double cross with those.

If you're a 30-40 handicapper, you should probably spend your money on lessons before getting fitted. It would be very hard to fit someone who can't hit the ball somewhat accurately, fitted clubs won't help that much if you're spraying it all over the place.
Go to Edwind Watts or some store in your area like that and buy a good player improvement used set of irons that are a few years old, same with the Driver and buy new wedges. Once you've lowered you handicap to the middle teens then a fitting would help.

That’s what I’m in right now and will stick with that for a while. New wedges is basically what I was in the market for but they had a deal on a full bag fitting for free so I took it. And wedges were the only thing I ordered from this fitting anyway. The fitter seemed pretty annoyed at that but oh well it’s my money and his company ran this deal.
I have a fitting for titleist wedges still scheduled for free with our club (had this on the books for august booked weeks ago before the CC deal came through) will probably hold with that for now too just to make sure the newer wedges I’ve purchased and performing well based on their metrics.
Already talked to the club pro at our course about lessons so I’m sure I will get on that soon.

30-40 Handicap.
It’s not the company, or kids fault.
You wasted your money, time, and his time.
Your swing is changing every few holes you play. You are learning new techniques every round of golf. Can’t fit for that.

OK guy. I mean the dude was basically not paying attention the entire time and still seemed fit to try and sell me clubs at 3x the markup with exotic shafts. Again, I just wanted some wedges and took a deal club champion offered. He had a horrendous attitude the whole time. I didn’t really waste any money other than on having to get one of their shafts which was maybe around $150.
According to you he shoudlve said let’s just call this off from the beginning then, but still wanted to juice me for a few grand.

You made the appointment. They have no idea what level you are at. You paying is for that evaluation, and time they set aside for you. After what he saw, I agree maybe he should’ve take a different route on selling you equipment.
I’m sure his number one job is to sell equipment.

Surely. I also am still laughing when he told me the most important thing about a putter is what I think looks cool when trying to sell me a $450 Scotty Cameron putter

Also just found out that he tried to sell me a K grind 56 degree wedge which doesn’t actually exist so he just changed it to an S grind without checking with me. I was looking that up last night on Vokeys website and realized that and called them this morning. Realized they changed it without reconfirming with me.
ETA: I actually just got a call back on this. Talked to the guy and he says no I always had you in a 56.10S grind (which is total BS). When I compare it to the Callaway CB wedge he fit me into, that club has 14 degrees of bounce and a massive sole. So he originally fit me into a club with a ton of bounce and then when I talked to him today on the phone he says I need as little bounce as possible as a beginner with an upwards attack angle.

I told them I was a high handicapper when I booked. They said perfect we fit people of all handicaps.

After a while if you’re that bad there’s quite simply nothing he can do for you, so it’s “what’s this guy willing to spend”

I told them the number. Also I find it hilarious to believe that any golf beginner is shooting close to 100 off the bat. My apex is 105 and shoot generally 115 or so. That’s coming down though now that I’m playing daily.

The fitter should have cut it short or not taken your appointment as soon as he learned you were a 30+ handicap.
Between this and your scheduled fitting at your CC, I’m not sure what’s in your head to make you think you need some new, custom fit clubs.
Spend your money on lessons for a year and then come back when you are at least in the 20 range.

There wasn’t anything. They were running a deal. I wanted to try out some wedges as I only have an 52 and an 60 in my bag and I am a lefty so it’s hard to find options to test out in normal stores. My clubs pro shop has ZERO lefty equipment. CC seemed like a good place to swing several options and they had a Father’s Day deal going for free fittings. Additionaly, I really wanted to see if the length of clubs I was using is right more so than getting everything pimped out. I’m 5’7” and the used irons I have feel outrageously long (LCG Burners from like 1998). I have no idea if they’re standard sized or elongated or what. So again it was more about making sure that I was using things sized correctly. I was not going in there hunting for exotic shafts and combos. More going for basic things that being a lefty are more difficult to find.

This is why golf equipment is so profitable. Everyone wants the equipment to fix the swings. SMH

Again, the irons I have right now are way long. So I was really just interested in what the correct sizing I should be in. I’m choking way down on them as it is. Everything I’ve owned up until a month or so ago has always been used. Just trying to make sure I at least have the sizing down.
I bought a new hybrid, driver, and wood. The driver and wood are already giving me improvements that I can see on Arccos. The wood I can routinely hit over 200 yards consistently and the driver is now going maybe 10-20 yards longer as will and I’m regularly hitting the majority of fairways in my rounds now. So I can already see improvement with data on the equipment alone. Just trying to make sure I’m in something comfortable as far as irons and wedges go.
