Chipping Technique in Grainy Bermuda

Have always struggled w chipping into grainy bermuda. I came across a Bryson video and it’s really helped. Instead of the classic opening up the face, hinge etc. - he said his college coach told him to raise the heel of the wedge and hit a draw with the chip. It’s going to run out a bit more than a normal chip but you won’t flub or stab it. It’s really really helped if you’re unsure of the lie.

It’s the heel hosel area that’s “grabby”. You’re right… stand the handle up and get the heel off the ground. Playing lower lofted clubs and taking a putting stroke also helps… get it on the ground and rolling

And IF you can, putt it.

I’ve found that if chipping from Bermuda rough, add 10-15 percent more to your swing speed than you think and never decelerate through the ball.

That’s what short game chef helped Keith Mitchell with last off season. You can even change the launch by moving the ball front to back and it still works.
