Does he care if he wins ?

No, but I don’t blame him either.

Ben Curtis should have been born later.

Did Tiger care if he won? He got the equivalent of $84 million (43 million in 1996) before he ever placed a peg in the ground on the tour.

Don't blame him for taking the cash.
Just wondering on his future aspirations.
Would be interesting to view the contract terms like length of time and payment schedule.

I hear you. And I know Tiger is a different player than anyone in history, but not a single person would say tiger didn’t care about winning despite having generational wealth before playing his first event. Hopefully Cam has some of that drive.

Tiger was a marketing bonanza, nothing against Smith but he isn't.
Nike got their investment back 10 fold.

I know it’s a silly point….
But how can anyone compete against this league? It’s not even a drop in the bucket what they’re handing out.
People complain about NFL owners making billions and making non-guaranteed contracts (with a salary cap). And no league outside of the NFL survives.
But this money is endless. It’s amazing what the golfers are getting paid and it’s nothing to the LIV.

Well when tiger got his money he still had records and legacy to chase like wins on tour etc
Not sure what records or legacy there is to chase for Smith now outside of 4 events a year
Hell ask Rory how getting rich and all made him. He admits he took a dive and lost the fire. That only recently returned
I think all players care most about the majors, but they still have that little spark for regular events that keeps them sharp throughout the season. When you remove that, it just seems like it would be hard to stay on top of one’s game. Redshirting a year in tennis for me was eye opening how hard it was to get back into tournament mode even though practice and such didn’t change
I would imagine golf is similar due to the individual nature of both sports
Look at Stenson, he was horrific heading into LIV. Missing almost 50% of his cuts and only a few top 20s in his last 20 events. Then he goes and wins the LIV event. That should never have happened going agaisnt some of the players that LIV has

That will be the real question.

I saw Tiger play in a junior tournament, the Canon Cup in 1991 at Eisenhower Golf Course at the Air Force Academy. He was just as competitive then as he is today.

Probably winning fishing rodeos from his yachts

You need Tiger money for a yacht

Tiger is out there on one leg today playing with all the money in the world. He does it because he wants to win even though his legacy is cemented even if he never hit another golf ball.
You can’t compare these guys to tiger. He’s built different.

Depends on the size of the yacht.

Even a “small” yacht takes considerable wealth. Buying one is the “cheap” part of the deal

I don't think you know what yachts are, or can be...

Agreed. But that isn’t really relevant. I’m speaking more to player motivation once they receive a big check.
