In the final prep for Ryder Cup, a DP Tour event has a stronger field than the PGA Tour this weekend.
11/12 of the Euro team teeing it up in England along with Captain Luke Donald. Sepp Straka is the only one not participating. Event also has 9 LIV golfers participating in it including Niemann, Reed, Koepka, McKibbin, Burmester.
On the PGA Tour, they’ve got 10/12 US players participating while Schauffele opted out & Dechambeau is not allowed to play a PGA Tour event, but will be there this weekend & attending the team dinner tonight.

“That’s up to the Tour and their decision to make,” he said to Sports Illustrated after opening with a 4-under 67 at LIV Golf Indianapolis. “It’s on them if they don’t let us become together as a team and play.”
“That just shows you … yeah, I’m not gonna say that,” DeChambeau said, pausing. “Yeah, it's a scenario that's unfortunate, and I wish it was different, but LIV's willing to let me play.”
DeChambeau would need a sponsor’s exemption to play in the tournament in Napa, Calif., which wouldn’t be an issue, but a Tour spokesman reiterated to SI that the two-time U.S. Open champion “is not eligible for PGA Tour competition.”
DeChambeau's agent, Brett Falkoff, said in a text message to SI’s Bob Harig that no formal inquiry into playing the Tour event had been made and that DeChambeau “plans to participate in every team gathering that he is permitted to attend.”

Would LIV let him play if they had an event this week?

Nope, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with this situation. PGA Tour events have “sponsors exemptions” for non-members.

“Well, he’s suspended,” Bradley said Thursday following his opening round at the BMW Championship. “And that’s out of my control.”
But Bradley would clearly love to have as many of his team members there as possible, including DeChambeau. “I thought that the Ryder Cup sort of transcends all of this,” Bradley said. “And really, the last thing on my mind is the PGA Tour-LIV stuff.”

The PGA Tour has nothing to do with the Ryder Cup or the PGA of America. Why would they willingly let a guy that sued them play in one of their tournaments? It would open them up to so many other issues. It makes way more sense to stay firm and not allow him to play.

Bc they want to see the US Team win the Ryder Cup?

Well they’re supposed to be working on a merger with LIV Golf. Don’t we want to see LIV & PGA Golfers playing together more than 4x/year? Guess that will be on the DP Tour

The PGA tour has many members that are not Americans. Would Rory, Lowry, and Tommy want the PGA tour brass to bend the rules for Bryson just because he plays for the USA? What happens when Rahm gets a sponsor exemption to another tournament? Making a concession for Bryson is a slippery slope not worth taking.
I actually really like Bryson, except for this bullshite naivete he tries to pull when it comes to the PGA Tour vs LIV.

If Bryson truly cared about the Ryder Cup, he wouldn’t have left the PGA tour for LIV knowing his PGA tour card would get pulled. He needs to cry and sniffle into his millions of dollars that he chose over the PGA.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Koepka continuing to struggle with a 75 in R1. Aberg & Fitzpatrick off to a hot start, both at -7 & hit their drives on #18 before play was suspended

Jim, I admire your commitment to LIV, but I think it’s time you accept the PGA and LIV are not going to merge. The PGA is crushing LIV in virtually every measurable metric and LIV has some huge contracts coming up.
I’m not sure what the path forward is and what it looks like, but I’m relatively certain it won’t involve a merger.
