Once I start hitting 7 and 6 irons I lose a lot of height. Yall think this is ball position? Maybe im swinging too steep?

Drill ideas?

Where do you typically place the ball when hitting those irons?

I start losing height at 4 iron

I’d recommend a combo set with your 4-7 irons being more game improvement style and maybe even graphite shafts.

I just got a graphite shafted Srixon ZX 4 iron and now I am averaging 90-100 foot apex, vs the 50-70 I used to get with my steel shafted, bladey, Mizuno Pro 223 4 iron.

I am not positive, but I feel like I've heard that people having difficulty getting air on lower lofted clubs is a swing speed issue. The usual recommendation is to replace them with hybrids/woods.

If you're making good contact and hitting them well and the height isn't where it needs to be then swing speed is the most likely problem. I don't have enough swing speed to get the 4 and 5 iron high enough in the air for the ball to stop on the greens, the angle of decent is too low. I changed to the 7 and 9 wood and I can hit them high and the ball hits and sticks. Hybrids work as well but I don't care for the look of them at address, I prefer the look of fairway woods.

As far as drills go, there are a lot of swing speed drills on YouTube that you can check out. They make training devices that you can swing with different sized weights on them and they just swing them as fast and hard as they can.
