@ David Toms 265? Interested to hear what you think about the instruction you received. I’ve had 4 lessons with Shaun over a two year period and improved a little...just haven’t spent much time playing or practicing. I plan to practice and play a lot more this year and I want to take some more lessons...but $250/hr isn’t cheap. I guess I’m just trying to justify spending a bunch of $$$ on lessons

Anyone you would recommend other than Shaun in Louisiana?

I haven't, but I've heard he is good. The guy at East ridge has a track man and is less than half the price and he is supposed to be pretty good, especially for the price.

Willing to try anyone once...you can usually tell pretty quickly if they’re worth it. I’ll look him up

Depending on what you are willing to do theres obviously tons of good instruction in Dallas. Might be worth the drive over once a month or whatever as you'll get better value for the money.

Just a thought. By the way, I played querbes before a wedding in December just to kill some times and for like $30 the greens out there were pure.

I’ve played there once since moving to Shreveport full time and it was in really good shape. Will probably join a club later this year if I’m playing enough to justify it.

My advice would be join Squire if you can make the hour drive. Southern Trace and East Ridge both have a shite ton of members and Trace isn't in near as good condition as it used to be. Golf is Shreveport is really weak, imo.

Most of my golf has been played at Oakwing and Links on the Bayou in Alexandria because most of my friends still live there, so an hour drive isn’t going to kill me.

Dallas but I've played all over N LA. Some of my best friends from high school and college were college players and some are still playing pro golf.

I know a couple of young teaching pros as well in the area.

You have a lot of golf options then

My uncle is a member at Gleneagles...I’ve played a lot of golf in the Dallas area

And not enough time.

Have a Buffy that used to be a member there but he moved to another club, can't think of the name right now. I'm not a member anywhere because I live downtown and the closest place I would want to join is too far to go hit balls and whatnot during the week.

It makes more sense to just pay green fees and play where I want to with buddies.

Yeah I think there were some complaints amongst the 265 members about Shaun’s availability so his $250 price for non-members is supposed to make him available more for the members. (I’m not a member, just what I’ve heard).

Chris Burkstaller is really good. I think he's the club pro at The Island still.
