XBox Series X Back Panel?

When do we begin just calling these things "Gaming PC Lite"? Esp since everything is on x86 now.
Engadget - XBox Series X Back Panel Prototype
Engadget - XBox Series X Back Panel Prototype

quote:
Behold the derrière of the Xbox Series X. Images of an alleged prototype have surfaced on Twitter and the gaming forum Neogaf, hinting at the various ports that will be available on Microsoft's next console. Thurrott's Brad Sams believes they are authentic and not the work of a 3D-printing whizz kid. We can't confirm their legitimacy, but they're an improvement over the fake render AMD used during its CES presentation (oh, what a fun day that was...) A large panel reads "prototype - not for sale," so it's also possible the design and exact arrangement will change before release.
The alleged images show an optical audio port, two USB-A ports, ethernet, power and a single HDMI port. (The Xbox One family, for comparison, had a second HDMI port for pass-through shenanigans.) There's also a long, rectangular slot which Sams explains is for diagnostic reporting and likely won't feature on the final console. We're months away from the Xbox Series X release, so the retail version could look completely different. The general shape, though, is identical to what Microsoft showed during The Game Awards last year. Provided these images are legitimate, we would be surprised if the company made anything more than slight alterations.

Kinda sucks that gone. Its nice little feature I use on my One X.

I found it odd the cut it out as well.
The feature sounds like a shameful diaster, but every XBONER raves about it.
Edt: maybe the diagnostic port will go away and be replaced by another HDMI port for passthrough?

If you are talking about the One Guide ..I mean it worked fine if you just want to watch live TV but with no DVR functionality I thought it was pointless. It was just nice to have another port to run one of my retro gaming console through.
As far as being a PC lite..there were rumors LINK this month that the Series X will have a Windows mode that could potentially turn this thing into a Steambox... I frankly dont believe it bc MS has to be selling the system at a loss and allowing access to other storefronts as big as Steam or Epic would destroy their game sales. We will see..

Everything on the XBOX is already on PC anyway.
I don't understand your point.
Game sales are coming from console only ppl anyway.
Edt: Their plan is probably to only allow purchases and downloads from the Windows Store, like with Windows 10 S.

That would make more sense.

If we do get even Windows 10 S on the console, I might pick one up for an HTPC.
I'm just a PC, PS and Nintendo guy and never owned an XBOX.

I wonder why consoles haven't added dual screen functionality yet. Is that something console gamers would even want? Nintendo kind of did it with the Wii U controller and the DS but no one has really added true dual screen yet. Seems like now would be a good time.

What would you use this for?
On PC I understand, I can't live without 2, really 3 monitors but for console?
What would be open on the other window? In game chat, map, etc?

Possibly a map or item screen, something like that. Maybe just have a bigger screen. With consoles shifting more toward being gaming pcs it just seems like someone would have tried this by now.

Native KB/M is something I want.

Well Xbox has certainly sucked this generation but this past year has been better. The One X for 350.00 was a decent deal to get into 4K gaming so I picked one up this past summer when I got a new TV. Game Pass's selection has also gotten better as well . I've played a bunch of great games that just werent on my radar anymore and probably would've passed on if not for the service.

We already went through this and it was such a flop people seem to forget it.
anyone remember all the launch titles with this past generation pushing “second screen” features?
Support for this was ended quickly.

Doesn't mean it shouldn't be revisted.

Wut
Edt: I see no true point, but would be a cool feature. Esp for consolers.
What is your argument in not trying to develop the tech for a feature? Just that it "failed before".
I honestly can't play games without dual screens. I like having info on a 2nd monitor.
Now with more and more ppl playing consoles at a desk instead of the living room, it makes sense to do a dual screen features.

Wasn't that through phone apps though?
Posted on 1/24/20 at 1:13 pm to Brosef Stalin
I guess that is what he is talking about, we are talking full dual screen support.

Yea a few titles had phone apps and there were a few games that used the PSP and VITA as a second screen.
