After the accounts are linked, you need to look for the option to “Join on Xbox” and transfer the audio to the Xbox account.
that's better than what playstation has going for it. i thought they partnered together.

Can someone help me understand why gamers want to use Discord while playing consoles?
For example, if I'm playing The Division 2 with randos, is there a benefit to going through Discord for chat audio, as opposed to just talking to them through the in-game comm system?

with cross platform gaming becoming more and more mainstream, it just makes sense to provide a service that allows a seamless method of communication for MP games as those games have shitty sound quality for their built-in audio chat.
eta: CoD is prime example of one of those games.
not to mention it'll probably used amongst friends moreso than randoms.

So, you're going to have to have your phone in front of you with the app open recording your voice and that sends it to your xbox where the other people in the discord can then hear your voice? That doesn't sound fun. I'm I reading that right?
Why not just have a discord app on the xbox/psn that everyone connects a party to and talks through?
I'm wanting this because I have a lot of buddies on PC, but I'm still slightly confused on how it will work.

Yeah that sounds absolutely terrible for console folks.

If it’s anything like what they did for the Sony/Discord “partnership” it’s not going to do what you want it to. All it was was linking your psn account so that people could see what you’re playing. If you want to voice chat on a discord server there’s some seriously convoluted 24 step work around to get it to work
