Depends on what you're looking for.
Oh, and take it to the gaming board.

you're best bet is to take the to the gaming board and let them inform you. You'll get a well thought out reasoned response.
When you're done head to the Political board and ask if you should be a liberal or conservative.

This makes no sense. Since a GAME console isn't worth shite without games.

Of course it makes sense. The PS3 definitely have better specs than the xbox (it is a more capable machine comparatively) but the poster simply thinks the xbox has better games...

Which one to get depends on your primary purpose.
If you are looking for a Blu-Ray player and gaming system get the PS3. The PS3 has a better graphics, but the limit is up to the gaming programer. Most games look the same on the PS3 and the Xbox 360. There are games that look a lot clearer on the PS3. The PS3 has less games out at the current time than the Xbox 360 and used games cost a little more. The online play for the PS3 is not as good as the one for the Xbox 360. The PS3 online is free. The PS3 comes with wireless built in. It comes with a browser so you can surf the internet, but it is slow. The controller isn't as responsive as the one for the Xbox.
The Xbox 360 is a gaming console. It does not have Blu-Ray play back. It will play standard DVD. It has much more games to chose from than the PS3. It also has plenty of quality games at a lower price and used games are a little cheaper. The online play is second to none. You do have to pay $50.00 a year but is well worth it. You will have to pay for a WiFi adapter $99.99 for the Xbox if you want to play wireless over the internet. No internet browser. This system can be linked to your PC.
If you are a sports gamer and will like to play online you need to think hard at your choice. All sports games play the same on both systems. The graphics on a few of them are better on the PS3. Online play I find is easier and better on the Xbox. If baseball is your top gaming sport MLB The Show is only on PS3 and is the best ever to come out.
I have all three systems, Wii, PS3 and the Xbox 360. All have different features that make them unique. Please read up on what they have to offer. I play my Xbox 360 the most followed by the PS3 and then the Wii. My young daughter (11yo) plays the Wii the most. My son (15yo) plays the Xbox 360 the most.

Thanks, I have read all the post. I am now looking at the X-Box. We will not play on-line, and do not plan to use it as a Blu-ray. As our first gaming unit, we want to play games. I guess by the time we out grow it, there will be something newer on the market.

Sony is charging people for features that most people don't care about. Most people buy a game console to play games not for all the other bells and whistles. I like my PS3 and I'm glad I have it because I use the Blu-Ray player but most people don't. The 360 upconverts DVD's and for most people that's all they want. Also there's a reason Sony doesn't charge for online and Microsoft does. Its because Live is by far the superior online service. I have a friend that I play Resistance 2 with and after a while of playing online on the PS3 we both switch back to Live because its simply a more enjoyable experience. Both systems are good in their own way buy the bottom line is that they are gaming systems first and foremost.
