I have only played the demos of the first one way back in the day when you could get demos from magazines. Should I play this or bandicoot?

I wasn’t that into Spyro but my little sister who doesn’t game much is constantly bringing up how excited she is for it.

Very different games. Crash is a very simple traditional platformer, just with a different camera perspective and hard as frick.
With Spyro, more of a 3D platforming collect-a-thon with a little more fleshed out characters, plot, etc. Definitely an easier game than Crash.
I'd pick which of those suited you more.
