What a way to go out

Just lost a build due to no water. Literally ran around finding stuff to loot for an hour and suddenly I’m dying. Also couldn’t find food. Slightly annoyed at how much I have to keep on top of that. I mean, I do get it but it’s just slightly annoying to die in about a half day of in game time (45 minutes of play). Oh well. I did find 7.62, 9x19, and some .45 ammo but my pistol needed .38s. Sucks to be me I guess.

Any good strategies out there? I’m kinda avoiding downloading the iZurvive app for now just while i feel out the game.

I take back (some) of my comments on the water/food aspect of the game. This new build I’ve been able to drink at streams and slaughtered a few animals to keep my character alive. Also found a reusable water bottle. There’s somebody with a cannon probably 500m out from the town I’m currently in. I can hear them engage others and it seems like he keeps winning because their shooting never stops. I wanted to investigate but I wasn’t ready to potentially kill off my character yet.

The point of navigation is finding a map. Then, once your in a town, go to an intersection and relate it to the map. Preferably by the city name. Everything is Russian so it may be difficult.

I try to stay near the ocean. Helps me figure out exactly where I am and which direction I'm going if I can't tell which part the sky the sun is in.


Also if you end up about dead from dehydration go ahead and give pond or stream water a shot. Did that the other day figuring "what the hell why not I'm gonna die anyways." and I ended up ok. Filled up my canteen and water bottle with it.

Just died :/

I went to go check out a police tower that I was in 30 mins prior to see if any loot had resurfaced (I just got some shotgun shells from a building I was in earlier that had nothing) and some dude is in there. I tell him I’m friendly, he says he’s friendly too but has a gun. I tell him I got one too. He then says he’s meeting a few buddy’s and will take me into the group. I turn it down initially but he said they’re going to a military base not far from there. Im like sure I’ll tag along. I lead him out (first mistake) then I start getting shot. No clue where it’s coming from because the weapon is suppressed. I turn back around and head up the tower. I’m MOSTLY sure he was being shot at too. I don’t bandage up and basically bleed out at the top with someone over my body (I think it was him?)

I think his buddy had seen me and started firing. I didn’t hear any shooting after the initial contact. I could’ve easily taken some morphine, bandages up, and waited out the engagement. I had the angle on top of the tower but I thought whoever it was, was going to be chasing me up the stairs, because of that I didn’t bandage until it was too late. frick me.

New character

It runs pretty well all things considered. I got the base PS4 and I haven’t encountered anything game breaking. There’s a tiny bit of stuttering here and there. I’m playing hardwired and I’m able to play on any US server.

I’ve only ever used a controller the game itself is a little bit clunky but I knew that coming in. The inventory management is kinda a chore. I could’ve made things easier for myself had I sorted it once I started getting larger clothing items and a backpack to carry everything. I had ammo and medicine and food scattered throughout. I should’ve organized it. But yeah, it runs surprisingly well. The firefight I was in there was no lag or stuttering. That was nice. Big cities do tend to be a bit more of a challenge for my PS4.

Yeah this honestly sucks. When I'm playing with my buddy...we'll just close out the game, go play Blackout for a match or two, then come back to Dayz.

Why isn’t this game on Xbox? These type of games is why I want a pc.
