But profitability will keep going down on video card mining due to difficulty exponentially increasing

Most coins announce when the blocks become more difficult to mine. Its $2 a day now because BTC is down over 50% from ATH.

If its alt coin mining and they pay in BTC, they will continue to mine easier alts that will continue to rise if BTC goes up.

The entire point is that it's not profitable to the casual miners. The people who bought up all these cards aren't the ones who have been dedicated to it for years. These same people will dump them just as quick as they bought them. Electricity cost plays the biggest role and it isn't cheap or free. When I ran just 6 cards, my electric bill was $150-$200 more a month than normal. People aren't going to mine when they're taking a loss at the end of the month. They're especially not going to take that loss with just the hope of Btc going back up. Gpu dumping has happened before and it's about to happen now.

It literally took years for it to go back up.

Was that when it was down to pennies? Because its over 9k now, I understand it takes time to rebound, but its not some unheard of witchcraft internet thing anymore.

I mean it absolutely is but thats not the point

And ASICs will completely blow GPU mining away when they start getting released, and it will make the difficulties of each coin soar through the roof. All these alt coins use the same algos, so ASICs will just keep switching to the most profitable algo making it impossible for GPU miners to keep up.

The same thing happened to BTC

Nah, it was when it went from 250 up to 1200. Everyone bought in with pretty much identical profit margins to compared to two months ago. Then it floundered and profitability hit the floor, just like now. At one point I was averaging around $50 a day with two GPUs, then a month later I was making $15 a day with 6. Your logic is flawed because you're thinking about this as someone who put actual money into it, not from the miner's prospective.

It has nothing to do with BTC. It's been unprofitable to GPU mine for years now. Most of these alt coins can be mined and pay out in BTC though

What Blue said. No one mines Bitcoin with gpus but they can mine other crypto with them. People who don't know any better just lump mining and Bitcoin together.

What pisses me off even more is why hasn't AMD stock skyrocketed like NVDA? I need the profits to be able to buy a GPU.

ETA: I know that Nvidia has other business opportunities which has boosted their stock. I am just saying, GPU wise AMD is killing it.
