This is by no means the biggest failure but we seem to be listing things that just didn't live up to the hype. How about the merger of squaresoft and Enix? 2 giants got together and it has been very underwhelming.

Being a pretty big squaresoft fan id have to agree here; but like you said nothing of the magnitude of some of the things these guys are talking about but underwhelming indeed.
