I love journey. I am showing it to my best friend (who is female incadentaly and the coolest person in the world) tonight and am hoping she likes it. then again we usually like the same games.

I know some of us have been talking about listing our top games lately so I decided to work on one starting last week. I was going to create a thread specifically for this but then felt like it was a bit self-serving.

Can't say your list would match up with mine well overall, but I have to give you a thumbs up for having Starflight, Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and M.U.L.E. on your list. I kinda miss the old Lucasfilm stuff with Maniac Mansion, Zac McCraken, and Day of the Tentacle. And Starflight was simply fantastic.

I have a Dr Who/Day of the Tentacle mashup shirt, and the next time someone recognizes the Day of the Tentacle part will be the first.

You know how there are movies that everyone should see or books that everyone should read, regardless of whether they are really "into movies" or a "big reader?"

That's how I feel about Journey. I really think it's something everyone should play through at least once, and that's pretty easy considering you can get through the game in about 2 hours.

Having heaped on all of that praise, I had my wife play it and she just thought it was "okay", though she could see why I liked it. Honestly, though, I think she was just in a bad mood when I had her play it because she was getting frustrated at parts WAY easier than some of the more difficult platforming in Jak & Daxter, a game she absolutely loves.

I suspect that of most people on here, though. These aren't necessarily what I think the "best games of all time" are today, in 2015. These are the games that I look back on and had the most fun with or that impacted me the most in that moment. I've actually gone back and tried playing some of these more recently and some just aren't that fun any more. I assume some might say that means those games may not have been that good to begin with, but I don't look at it that way. These games, at the very least, were amazing when I first played them and that's how I ranked them.

This really was a big precursor to Mass Effect and most people haven't even heard of it. I'm surprised someone here did. This is one that I did go back and play some of, and I still had fun with it. On top of that, playing Starflight is one of the few things my dad and I did together. The Genesis version (the one I played) came with a big, fold-out star map, and a captain's log from another ship that had disappeared several months before the mission of your crew. Though I was too naive to realize it at the time, the log basically served as a semi-vague game guide to get you heading in the right direction. I, however, was totally caught up in it, retracing this other captain's adventure. So, long story short is that I still think it's a great game, but my love of it is wrapped up in a whole bunch of other feelings too. I gave my Genesis away a long time ago, but I still have my copy of Starflight.

You need a really cool friend like mine. :lol

My wife hates all that stuff. She gives it a good try for my sake but her heart isn't not in it.

Oh, I agree with this myself. My top 10 or 20 would be filled with stuff like Chronos Trigger, Wasteland, Starflight, Fallout 2. So I get where you are coming from. They wouldn't hold up now because of graphics (and wonky controls in many cases), but great games.

Yeah, I think I probably enjoyed Mass effect 3 alot more than I would have otherwise simply because the running around in space mining and searching planets gave me a big Starflight vibe (same for Mass effect 1 of course).

Yeah, that's the one.

Daoc? No shite?

Albion has the "best" starter zone but I loved Hibernia. Don't pick Midgard imo unless you really want to be a thane or shadowblade

When you finally have a baby, there will actually be a reason for you to be up this early.
