Yes, thank the Lord, at least for now. I have ~ 30 more days for sure here. The job is just not cutting it anymore, and with the chance of unemployment always around the corner, it's REALLY not cutting it anymore.

that sucks man. i've really been questioning my degree field. it seems like drafting doesn't have that good of job security. it might have been a waste of time. i might just get back into the retail market. still not sure though.

I figured after over 6,000 posts, someone had to curse this game.

Why can't you go back to school and major in engineering?
Posted on 10/10/11 at 2:10 pm to Devious
cause i don't feel like getting myself 30 grand into debt. especially in an economy like this. how would i pay it back. scholarships are usually for high school grads.

I wouldn't say it's a "bad" degree in any way, it's just an Associates Degree and you are in a very very small city.. If you want to stay in Dothan you probably need a 4 year degree, if you moved to a place like Huntsville, your degree would be fine. (move to B ham you would make more than me..

with Engineering it's a guaranteed job for the rest of your life making more than 60k a year.. 98% chance, and I'm not even lying.

Gotta spend money to make money. You have to distinguish yourself, and the first step is a degree.
Even after getting my degree, I'm looking at knocking out two or three well recognized certs. Do nothing if you want to be another sheet of paper in the pile.

I graduated with 50 other people, I am 1 of only 2 that actually "worked" in their field.. I say worked because as of 2 weeks ago the other person left our field.
That being said... yeah, as long as you pick a good major (like engineering) you will be ok as long as you distinguish yourself and market yourself well.
ETA: I am not in Engineering unfortunately.. I wish I had done it many a times, my brother has never had a problem getting jobs and makes three times what I do.
