Did you find a backwards compatible Wii?

Yes, my mother in law had one from when my wife was younger and still lived at home. Apparently the way to tell from pics is when the wii is vertical the writing is horizontal. If the wii is vertical and the writing is also vertical, it’s not GameCube compatible.

I have a black one from 2011 that's surprisingly backwards compatible (has the GC controller and memory card slots on the side). It came with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.
Rogue Leader should be your first get. Still a great game and it's really hard to emulate for some reason even on a powerful PC. Of course the best thing to do is hack your Wii.

Wow. I always thought they were all backward compatible. The one I have is, and I just assumed that was normal.

Good luck.

IIRC, GameCube game prices went through the roof during Covid.

Finding randoms shouldn’t be a problem but finding any big name titles like a Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario Party, etc will likely be expensive.

I built most of my GameCube library for the wii from Ebay back in 2014-2017

Not sure what the market looks like now though

Yep, emulation is great for GB/GBC/GBA/NES/SNES/Genesis. Not so much for PS1. Softmod it with an SD card and then install Nintendont so you can use almost any controller you want for GC games.

So I can make a list of GameCube games to play on wii and you can send them to me and it would be no different than buying the actual games? How much do you charge?

Why would you do that when it's easy to do free?

Just download them off of Vimm's Lair or any other reputable site mentioned on r/Roms.

Good to know. I have no idea where our Black Wii is.
