The TikTok star known as Epic Gamer Grandma — who had over 3 million followers across platforms — has died at 78.

The late social media star's death was announced in a post shared by her grandson, Culsans. He confirmed that his viral grandmother, whose real name is Agnes, died on Sunday, Dec. 21, holding the hand of her daughter, Pauline. He added, "She left this world the way she lived in it: surrounded by love."

The statement — which was shared to her social media pages on Tuesday, Dec. 23 — recalled how Agnes' family watched her "slowly lose her words," referring to her recent decline in health.

Culsans first started sharing details about his grandmother's condition in October, explaining why she hadn't appeared in many new videos. On Oct. 16, he noted that Agnes' Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) had "worsened significantly," and she had been taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Two days later, Culsans confirmed that his grandmother "suffered a major stroke" and would be undergoing "heavy treatment" and testing to address "an anomaly in her lungs." Just a couple weeks later, he returned to his grandmother's social media page to share yet another difficult update on Agnes' recovery.

"Her mind and speech remain seriously impaired. most sentences are either entirely illegible or simply don't make sense," Culsans wrote in a post from Nov. 6. "Her bones are in agony, and it's absolutely heartbreaking to witness. my mum and I had to take frequent breaks to have a place to both cry and digest everything and to be strong for grandma when she needed us most."

He continued, "She is practically as frail as anyone could be. and she does not look like the grandma i saw before."

In Culsans' most recent post announcing the news of Agnes' death, he honored her legacy and the widespread impact she made on millions of social media fans.

"Grandma showed that the internet doesn't only belong to the young. she showed that you can be in your seventies and still find new communities, new friendships, new ways to express yourself," he wrote. "She reminded people that our elders are not invisible. that they have stories, humour, opinions, and so much love left to give."
