The curious case of the smashing brothers

Everyone seems to be making a big deal about an Easter egg hidden in Bayonetta 2 when you scan your amiibo to get halos for Rodin’s shop. But that actually won’t be the emphasis of this topic so stay with me.
When it’s an amiibo that’s not from one of Nintendo’s main IP (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon etc.) he says a particularly interesting statement regarding what is obviously Smash Bros.
“Bayonetta, something came in from that fight club of yours.”
He later goes on to mention that maybe she should bring him down there to spar or something to that effect...I can’t remember the exact text.
If you’re unfamiliar with Rodin, he’s probably the coolest character in the series forreal.
Odd gifs to show off a badass character I know but they’re the best ones without spoiling anything so
So either Nintendo is either trolling Rodin being in a new Smash, a smash 4 port or just trolling altogether.
That brings me to my next point. Would Nintendo release 2 Smash games on the same system? Sakurai has been quoted as saying the game development puts a massive amount of stress on him and I can only imagine having to dump a few resources into a port as well as a new title would only make it worse.
So would you guys take a port by say....June this year or wait till around Christmas for a brand new Smash?

It will come in September with the online service. I expect it to be like Smash 4.5. Everything from Wii U and 3ds plus new characters and levels.
I think inklings and Xenoblade characters like Rex/Pyra to be added.
Question is will 5 come later or could they just keep expanding this one with DLC.

I feel sure they’ll port Smash 4 with a few new fighters and stages come Christmas.

They know they can get away with Wii/Wii U ports and satisfy most of the fanbase, but I really hope they are putting effort into actual new games. I'm going to guess the next Animal Crossing you see will be a port as well.

Doubt it. The Switch’s features can be expanded on with Animal Crossing. Save with local multiplayer (which Smash on the 3DS has) I don’t see where Smash necessarily benefits.
