Game looks to be legit. Game made by a guy with the handle of Reynad (Hearthstone claim to fame). The Bazaar looks to take the aspects of Hearthstone, MTG etc, but is an autobattler once you setup your "board". So far the game is pretty solid, seems to scratch the itch of a competitive thinking game with loads of unique builds. Also, I can walk away from a "run" and it has no impact on the run.

it's kinda weird that you cant even tell what the game is from watching the trailer...

based off the game page it appears to be an online card deckbuilder?

Yeah, game has the aspects of a deck builder but once you set your board, there’s no more interaction during the fights. The interaction comes in choosing which encounter to visit. The different encounters gives you different items/rewards/xp/skills. Game has a ton of depth and decision making, but it does it on the individual players time. Once you’ve taken the time to build your board out, you play. But, you don’t have to wait on anyone which is nice. No time outs or slow playing

Game has been in development hell for years.

Reynad started up development of it during the peak of Hearthstone and the digital card game fad came and went.

The game has changed directions a lot of times over the years to, there was a lot of trend chasing. At one point it even spiraled off into the crypto world.

Regardless, I think if it ends up being good it could find an audience. Hearthstone has been washed for years so maybe it's time for card games to have a resurgence.

Slay the spire and balatro really made me burn a ton of hours. Hearthstone failed on some levels but I will defenitely give this beta a shot

I tried watching Kripp play it some and I just couldn't follow it at all. It looks too complicated for casual audiences. I think one reason Hearthstone exploded was Blizzard did a good job of simplifying things without simplifying them too much.

Hardcore strategy and stat nerds may like it though.

Played about 50 hours in 5 days.

I don't think it will do well unless they make it more casual friendly.

You get one free ranked ticket per day, then they are $1 each or you can win them with a 10 win victory in casual.

The issue is, once you get past 7 wins in casual, the AI puts you against what appears to be top 5-10% builds and makes it near impossible to complete.

of the probably 30 times i got to 7 wins, only about 5 i was able to get to 10.

This is time consuming, and sometimes you could spend over an hour just to get to the end and fail, in which case you get nothing. nada. no coins, no tickets, no anything.

In ranked you get 1 chest for 4 wins, 2 for 7, 3 for 10.

Same issues here. I had a perfect build with all my win conditions shoot to 9 wins and then lose 4 in a row to knock me out earlier this evening. it's basically the AI force lossing you and putting you agaisnt your perfect counter.

If you make 4 wins you get no ranked XP. if you get 7 you rank up 1/4 bars of bronze 5-1 etc.

There is a chance to get champion skins from the chests, but of the 15ish I have opened i got 1 hero skin and the rest were item skins, over half of them being repeats of stuff i " won" earlier. you just have the extras. trading them in the future has been mentioned but it semms to me they are % based and not RNG like everything else, so i imagine byt he time trading is available everyone will have all the same things.

You also get between 35-60 game currency per chest that equates to about 1 penny each.

There is just no incentive to invest the time in it's current state. 80% of your time will be wasted and just lead to disappointment.

There is no set way to build your " deck" the way you want. every encounter, merchant, vendor each turn is RNG. you could spend multiple runs without getting anything even worth playing, or get everything you need to start and go through countless turns never even seeing a skill vendor you need or any upgrades for the items you do want.

too much RNG accompanied by AI that forced you to go against the toughest decks.

Opponents should be just as random as everything else, and they need to take SOME of the RNG out of it and let it be more skill based.

Pretty good review and in many ways I agree with you. I will say I enjoy the gameplay and have played about as many hours as you. I bought into the closed beta - so $33. My cost to play time to enjoyment ratio is pretty high in the value category. I can play all I want with the initial investment and not need to put more cash in unless I want the new heroes I’m sure that will be coming out.

I’m intrigued with the skins and that is what is driving me to play more ranked. It’s a good model imo
