So I have a fairly outdated PC. Here are the main parts I have questions about.
ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 100-B1-0700-K1 700W SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Power Supply
Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 1150
GTX 960
If I wanted to move to a GTX 1080 would I need a new PSU or CPU or MOBO?

You'd be fine with all of your old stuff

So you don’t mind think I need a better PSU? I know the wattage is fine, but people on reddit act like it’s the end of the world to use a non tier 1 PSU
also how bad do you think the 4690k will bottleneck? I don’t care about frames in single player games but I do want solid frames for competitive shooters like fortnite and blackout

Your PSU will work just fine

It'll be a bottleneck, but not that bad in those two games.

in my amateur opinion, youd be fine.
the i5 will unload all gfx processing to the 1080. i dont think you will bottleneck.
if you were trying to stream or record fortnite, different story potentially.

Okay thanks. People were just acting like using a low end PSU would like break the GPU so I wanted to make sure bc I’m not super savy with hardware

Okay cool. I’m not a graphics snob so I generally play on low settings to maximize FPS. I figured it would bottleneck on stuff like the Witcher but as long as those games will run well that’s all that matters. I’ll be getting a new MOBO and CPU later anyways

You're fine, especially if you aren't overclocking the 1080.
Sell the 960 on r/HardwareSwap.
