I'm tired as shite, but I'm glad I stayed up to watch it. I want talk about it but I don't want to spoil anything. Can you believe Rick is English IRL?
:segue:
What accent is the easiest to do? American to English or English to American?

British actors doing American accents have always been more convincing than the other way around. Like you, I'm often shocked when I find out that some guy is actually English. Ton of them in Band of Brothers.
Only American I ever found really convincing was Kevin Kline in "French Kiss".

LtCol Winters is English. Just found that out. Hugh Laurie too. Leo does a convincing South African accent IMO.

yeah but Leo is fricking Leo
not fair to judge others using him as a base, as that would be unfair

Martin and Blithe are English. Leibgot and Doc Roe are both French.

Yep. Found out most of that just watching the extra features.
With Doc Roe, a Frenchman playing a coon arse wasn't much of a stretch

Shifty is South African. Holy crap.
ETA Looking at IMDB, most of these guys are listed from the UK, even Leibgot and Roe. Add to the list, Welsh, Talbert, and Babe.

I wish "The Pacific" would have been better. I feel like the guys that fought those nut jobs on the islands never get their due compared to the European conflict. But I think I got 2 episodes in and just lost interest. Characters weren't nearly as good. At least how they wrote them.

quote:Bad move IMO. It got MUCH better. I'd put it right behind BoB. But then again, I know all about the history of the Pacific campaign and I have a personal interest in it.

It's like Christmas morning when History plays a BoB marathon.

I told the wifepiece I want BoB for rays of blueness for my birthday.
Posted on 3/12/12 at 11:15 am to LewDawg
I'll probably buy it on Blu Ray when it gets cheap. Give it a legit shot. Hoping to borrow it from someone, but nobody I know has it. Even the guy who got me into BoB.

What did you think of Generation Kill on HBO? I didn't get a chance to finish the series because free HBO ran out on me, but I read the book and it was one of my favorite reads ever.
