Looks like an expanded Salmon Run-type experience. Just without all the noobs fricking it up for you and killing your ranking. Day 1 purchase for Mrs. Vox - a Splatoon 1/2/3 junkie.

ETA: "Single player" doesn't tell the whole story.

Since Nintendo is famous for fleshing out games post-launch, I am confident that they won't leave this one as just a skeleton concept of Salmon Run solo.

I can only assume that they took the main seed of the game, got it rolling, then had the JV developers get it over the finish line while the main team works on Splatoon 4.

Ditto for Animal Crossing and this new Mii-based Tamodachi Life game.

So...no couch co-op?

I think you'd need 2 consoles and 2 copies of the game, but that may not be correct. OR, Nintendo may change that.

The problem with Nintendo's couch co-op is that it's not true co-op usually. There's one player with full abilities and the other player is doing some kind of retarded little brother mode. Cappy in Mario Odyssey, the sharpshooter in Pikmin 4, Gooigi in Luigi's Mansion 3...

Local co-op with two consoles is a much better experience.

They have game sharing these days, so likely only need one copy of the game. If the game plays on Switch 1, that would be cool.

You're definitely not wrong here.

The folks who do Split Fiction/It Takes Two has mastered this. Ditto for the Little Nightmares people.

I don't see any buddy copy goodness coming from Nintendo. Why sell one copy when you can sell 2 at twice the profit?

I believe they mentioned that this is a Switch 2 exclusive, but I can't swear on a Bible as such

These games are masterpieces of co-op gameplay.

Oh I mean Nintendo has this currently. We can "game share" between our Switch 2 and Switch with a virtual game card. LINK

Lending virtual game cards is one thing, but I must've misunderstood. I think I was meaning where one person with the game can play with another player on a separate console who only has the buddy pass version of the game downloaded. That's how my wife and I finished Little Nightmares 3.

Yeah I'm not sure how it works tbh. We haven't tested the virtual game cards out yet for co-op play.

Unless I'm missing something huge with the virtual cards, the game disappears from the lender's console for the max 2 weeks that it's on the lendee's Switch.

It's hard to believe that in 5 weeks, the Switch 2 will have been out for a year.

I honestly don't know. You could very well be correct about this because honestly I haven't used the feature yet. I'm hoping that is not the case though.

I've loaned VGCs to my wife's S2 and they aren't playable for me until she returns it or the 2 week clock runs out. I believe it's only available for 1 title at a time, too.
