Hate to break it to you but consoles aren’t going anywhere. There’s a huge segment of gamers that would rather just boot up a console connected to their tv rather than manage a whole PC setup.

Sony has sold 15 million Consoles already in the year, and that’s with supply chain issues. It could have easily sold 20-25 if they could have produced them.

They’ve made $5.25 billion in revenue. Sony is still King.

Well you missed what I said. They need to become Mini-ITX PC's which is the form factor they pretty much are right now. It's not hard to add the Xbox/PS operating system to them.

The only thing really changing is upgradeable internals, current gen PC parts, and the ability to also run Windows outside of the gaming OS if you want.

I understand what you said, but a company that is currently bringing in $5+ billion a year in revenue isn’t going to change their business model.

Why try to fix something that’s not broken?

Sony has sold 450 million total PlayStations, while Xbox doesn’t even come close with 165 million.

I think Sony knows what they are doing.

Companies are always looking to the future and ways to improve and adapt with the ever changing times. You have to.

Again, nothing really changes other than they are more powerful and can act as a PC as well.

Clearly over the last several years the consoles are moving more and more towards PC's. Both in design/size, and formerly exclusive games.

Of course they are, nobody wants their business to be left behind. The truth is the majority of gamers still play on consoles. Until that changes, then Sony and Xbox are still gonna produce them.

Sony is just better at it.

61% of Gamers still game on Consoles

You still aren't understanding what I am saying. And yes kids all have consoles not PC's. Adults are where the PC numbers surpass console gaming, not new news there.

For the third time, nothing changes.

Playstation makes a PC, Xbox makes a PC. They run their same operating system. Instead of a closed box you can't touch, you can upgrade internals so they aren't years behind at launch, and you can also use them as a PC running Windows at other times instead of shitty internal browsers.

The PS5 and XBSX are already the size of Mini ITX PC's.

Hell, here is Zotac's mini-ITX PC that Sony ripped their design from:

Yes I am. You just keep repeating the same thing.

Sony has already made steps to making their consoles upgradeable, additional internal storage for example. As an avid/casual gamer I’m more apt to just spend $300-400 every 6-7 years for upgraded tech. It’s much easier than me spending several hundred dollars every 2-3 years to upgrade internal parts.

That’s how they’ve made their money, and they are gonna keep doing that until the market dictates. Currently it still says consoles are king.

That's you though, not the average to above average to hardcore gamer. Those guys want to be able to upgrade when they want for better gaming experiences, not when the box they buy says they can.

Also, lmao internal storage isn't upgrading your console the base PS3 could do that 20 years ago. Wtf are you talking about? It's the dated GPUs and CPUs that hold the industry back. 4K 120Hz gaming though right?

This is already happening, hence all the PS to PC games and Sony moving to PC is their main focal point same as Microsoft who got out way ahead.

Also this article says 48% of all gamers are on PC, and this is a website I have heard of before

This market share is to small for Sony or Microsoft to even worry about.

That Zotac mini pc is $2000 dollars. Good luck convincing a casual gamer to shell out $2k for a gaming device. Then additional $1000+ dollars for a better graphics card every few years?

Sorry but technology advancements aren’t that substantial inside generations to justify that cost for causal gamers.

Sony is making an additional revenue stream. I’m glad PC gamers are finally getting to experience games we played 3 years ago. God of War was awesome in 2018 lol.

No one said anything about that being the console? It was used as an example for the design, thought that was obvious with the 5 examples yet you insist you understand.

Sony is quickly pivoting to PC gaming, this is very obvious and done because PC gaming is the future and has been for awhile. Microsoft started this several years ago and got out way ahead. I can't help the old guy stuck in the past understand that though, it's okay.

I get what your saying but you don't have to spend hundreds ever other year, a good PC build will last you 7+ years and then some and be well ahead of consoles. That's what I do anyways. You can always put in a new GPU (if you can find one) and you're caught up if you feel the need whenever the new gen starts.

I have liked MS's approach to embracing the PC because I feel they fit in that space better anyways, they just need to move Gamepass to Steam and everything would be Golden.

Sony is a different animal, I still think they can go the traditional route and make money doing so. IMO it's the the best place for single player experiences outside of a couple developers and Nintendo (regardless of shitty hardware). Will be interesting to see their response to Gamepass because even for me someone who has had a falling out with Xbox I've started to see them turning the corner with their games and subscription service.

Sony is making strides, we're looking at a lot of their main AAA games hitting PC simultaneously like MS within another year or two.

At that point I really don't understand why you would own a console, similar to an Xbox now.

Well if they get the cost down to $300-400 then maybe they have a chance to change the market, until then consoles are still gonna reign.

How can you make a statement like this when Sony just had a record year in console sales in the first year of a console? Your strawman argument that PC gaming is taking over has way too many holes.

Consoles haven't reigned for awhile now. 48% is negligible and it even goes back and forth to more on PC these days. This lead was over 10% just a decade ago, clearly the market is shifting and quickly regardless of how you feel.

Interestingly, those 8 percent of console players spend the most money per device.

So console players spend the most money. Why would Sony or Microsoft neglect a market segment that brings them in the most money?

Of course, just keep raising the prices for your games. No one on PC is paying $70 for a game.

Enjoy your $80 games next cycle.

MS is already fully blended with PC considering they make Windows. You're just kinda on your own with PS at this moment, but changing pretty quickly. Discord is a nice move too, anyone that games on PC has been using discord for several years now so glad to see Sony with even more PC integration.

Because PC games are trash and the same games get played for years on end.

quote:

League of Legends, Rainbow Six: Siege, Valorant, Minecraft, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, GTA V, CoD: Modern Warfare, Overwatch, Apex Legends, and PUBG.

All these games are just repetitive multiplayer games, and they rely on cosmetic sales to generate revenue.

At least with consoles we get new games to play throughout the year. I hope you get to play them on PC in the next 3-4 years.

Damn, I guess I hacked Microsoft to get to play Halo on launch on my PC. Same for Forza Horizon 5 and every other MS title for years now.

Hope they don't arrest me.

Sony buys a studio known for porting games to PC

Sony confirms it bought a PC port specialist studio “to help with” PC ports

Dammit Sony, listen to this guy, stop buying studios and spending all this money to bring your games to PC faster. Idiots!

Glad to see Microsoft finally put out a game people want to play. It’s been a while for them.
