The problem is what you are doing to your phone. Running internet through it all the time like that is like sitting in a car with the gas hammered to rpm indefinitely. I burned through a few smart phones using the tethering to dl shite on vacation. My phone would get hot as shite and crap out in half the time.

I always stick my phone next to my air conditioning vent when I tether... never had this problem... haha

I've had every iPhone since 2007, and tethered with all of them except the original because MyWi wasn't out yet.
Never had one burn up, or even get that hot and I just throw it on the bed usually.
