if your good enough to play in a band, i would say don't buy it, unless you just want to learn the songs.

if you don't play, and want to learn, it is what your looking for. there are technique drills that help you learn specific techniques throughout the game. it adjusts to your playing level constantly throughout the game, even during the song.

hopefully they come out with more songs. I've been playing the guitar for years. I don't need to learn guitar but the game seems like a quick way to learn new songs. More motivating than figuring it out on your own or sitting down with Tabs.

This sounds pretty cool. My guitar has been collecting dust for the last 3 years. Bought it, and taught myself how to play. Learned just enough to play the beginnings of most songs, then quit with the exercises. Which soon led me to quit playing all together.

May pick this up around Christmas time.

not gonna lie. this game is legit. been playing for about an hour now. got more done than i probably would reading a how to book. i'd say the reviews were pretty accurate. if you wanna learn, get it.

Finch, you get good enough at that guitar and you may finally fall in to some tang.

i also need to add that you need to treat this like an actual practice session and less like a video game. i've played rockband/guitar hero for so long, i'm just pressing strings to frets like i normally would. try to actually keep the rhythm of the song so you can remember how to play without the moving track.

well, i'll do what i can with keeping it alive. free bird was fun until it got the last half of the song. we all know what happens when that part comes on. 5 minute solo.

btw, i thought this could be a good place to discuss a few personal techniques on becoming better guitarists. a manager at gamestop tells me that they will be releasing DLC that teaches you how to read sheet music. that way, you can play away from the game.

yea, keep it going. I had actually forgotten about it after reading about it a few moths ago. I used to play and even did the whole band thing in high school and first eyar or 2 of college. After grad school and a career and 3 small kids running around i just never have the time or energy to get all of my gear. I even bought a new amp last summer to jump start my motivation lol, lasted a few weeks till everytime I got it out the kids ran to grab a microphone to plug into it lol.

Told teh wife today I may be picking this up pretty soon as a way to get back into the groove...played from '87 till around 2000 or 01 at least 4 days a week. In the last 10 years I have probably played about a month total.

If I can actually pick it up, I'll try and lend a hand. I don't have a whole lot of time to play, but if I get it, I'll update this thread as well.

i agree, i can spend a whole lot of time playing this game. i like that they are already adding DLC to the game. there are so many songs i haven't touched in the game, and now with DLC, i will always find something fun to play.
