Questions about the ending of Mass Effect 3

I know the questions have been asked, but I just beat 3.
1st question: the catalyst=the citadel=the ghost looking kid. My question is who and what the frick is he?
2nd question: how would you liked to have seen the game end?
I went into the 3rd obviously hearing everyone saying the ending was the worst ever. I thought it might be like the LOST finale and you love it or hate it. But nope, I can't remember anyone ever saying anything positive about the ending. As been said a million times, that was garbage.

The AI is the citadel, it controls the reapers in their job to find a way to solve violence between organics and synthetics.
Originally I would have liked to see what happened to the crew and wrap up what happened to characters, but the extended cut solved that for me.

Interesting. I had family arrive about the time that sequence started, so i couldn't hear well.
Is that the dlc ?

Yes, the FREE DLC. It fixes a lot of issues, I'm astonished if you heard everything negative about the ending before experiencing and didn't get the extended cut.

I didn't hear specifics exactly. Maybe what I saw was the extended cut?

Well you have to go out and download it, it's not an update or anything. So you probably didn't. A bunch of colors/pre-rendered cutscene?

Ahh yeah I'll have to download that then. It showed joker and some of the crew getting out on some planet at the end

Well they did well with 1 and 2. And I've enjoyed past games kotor 1 and 2 and DA:O. I'll give it a shot

He's an artificial intelligence program created by an ancient alien race called the Leviathans in order to protect organic life from being destroyed by their synthetic counterparts. To resolve this issue he came up with an ingenious plan in which every 50k years organic life would be destroyed by synthetic machines and I would explain further but I must get to the ER to see about the aneurysm that just formed inside my head...

I really wanted to frick the bad attitude out of jack, but she was too touchy and wasnt having it.
