I have Roku and Netflix, Hulu and Amazon. I just don't want to miss out on sports and Disney Channel.

I've yet to find a movie, show, or sporting event that I couldn't find on KODI for free

You would still have to have a sub for ESPN to get the WATCH ESPN stuff on this thing, I would assume? We haven't had cable in a while, and this would kind of be a big deal if not.

KODI has links for streams of the major Espn channels

They seem pretty dependable but I'd still like to have a password just in case something happened

Eta: firetv may be the best 79 bucks I ever spent

What is KODI?

ETA: I might get a FireTV the next time they're on sale...Amazon does drop the price every so often.

I can usually find the main streams online, but stuff like SECN or + is next to impossible.

KODI is the new name for what was x box media center

It's basically a media server but there are tons of add-ons that can be added to access online sources and streams all in one place

So is Kodi an app? What do I have to pay for?

Do you have a box or a stick? (lol)

KODI the app is free, but you can't directly install it from your firetv. Have to do it via a computer on the same network. It's not very hard if you can follow youtube.

I bought the box because it has a little better performance and can be hardwired.

They are building an actual butterfly sanctuary 20 yards outside my office

My office is a trailer, so the butterflies will have it better than me

That didn't look too difficult. Do I need an XBL account?

No

Eta: that's only the steps to get KODI on the firetv

The next steps involving adding the add-ons needed. That takes a little more time. Most of it is typing addresses on the crappy remote.

I will freely admit that I'm very much a dumb noob when it comes to KODI. It can do a lot of stuff that I haven't even attempted.

Although, I know how to search and find shows and movies, that's just the tip of the iceberg as to what it can actually do.

It can DVR stuff, play music, photos, porn...

I'm not sure what features work well on the firetv because KODI is meant for all platforms, especially PC's.

So is there a way to connect a PC to the TV and bypass Amazon Fire TV? Because I think that at this point it feels like the Fire TV is the middleman.

You only need the PC to install the KODI app

After that, your PC isn't needed for anything at all, unless you wanted to connect to movies, photos, etc on your PC, which I have no use for

The firetv works standalone once it's set up and configured

Another dumb question...I don't see Disney Junior on the Fire TV app list, unless I missed it. Can I get it through KODI? And KODI is the Xbox Live media center, so it is like having the dashboard as an app on the Fire TV, right?

ETA: I would need a box for each TV if I cut the cord, right? Can they connect to each other and share the same information or do I have to get all the apps and stuff for each one?

You can likely add the Disney JR app manually even though it's not on the app list, just like you do with KODI

If not, all the Disney stuff is available from other sites within KODI

Im not familiar with the Xbox dashboard but I'm sure KODI looks similar since it was based off of it

Eta: I see the watch Disney apps on the firetv App Store online

These do require provider login I assume just like Watchespn right?
