In the first screenshot right here, you can see what your user interface looks like with friends online.
If you do have friends on your list that are currently online, you can now start forming a squad by sending invites to your friends.
When you have done so and your friends have accepted your squad invite, their highlighted boxes will be in green which means that you are now in a squad and ready to join the server as a squad.
Go into the Server Browser and pick a server you would like to play on. A good piece of advice is to pick a server that isn´t completely full. To be on the safe side, pick a server that has 16/24 on them since they fill up quite fast.
When you are finally in-game, (note that the screenshot was taken on an empty server) you are ready to own it up :).

that guide seems like common sense, but that method still doesnt mean it won't split you up
i understand ea wants to balance the teams, but if thats the case, find me a server that needs 4 on one team, not 2 on each

Croacka and I were talking about the empty squad thing...hope it's easy to follow.
When I told you to join an empty squad I probably should have told you which one. Maybe, and this is a theory, but maybe we both decide to join empty Squad Golf. If I press X to join, it won't. But if you do, it'll throw us both in. It's like the game needs two of us to select it to join it.
It'll require us going to team chat before we spawn, figure out which squad to try to join, and go from there.
Or, just squad up and hit the server browswer for a game with 16/24 spots taken.

That's why they are telling you to find a server that has less than 16 players.
ETA: I can't tell if I should be annoyed that they leave this up to me or if I am sperled by CoD that they do partying up so well.

disclaimer: that is pure speculation, but i know it won't fricking let you join a squad by yourself, but when two people are trying, it seems to work

According to that tutorial and the upcoming patch, that will not be the case. At least that's what I read. They'll have plenty of time to figure it out while we play mdub.

We did try to join the same squad last night. I'm sure we both pressed X numerous times and neither of us went.
I did the exact same thing with Croacka and Papps. MAGIC! We all ended up in the squad.
I think the best method is to squad up before joining a server. If you get separated, back out and do it again.

yeah, but you me and papps joined a 4 man squad in progress
they already had 4, so we had to join a live game unless we wanted to go play on our own, which is not what i want to do

you would think EA would get this and stop trying to force 4 man squads down people's throats. i thought that's why they introduced the platoon system - to get multiple squads in a match together. guess not...

Last night was the worst I've heard it.
