Well I didn't know that. I've never played any of the Persona series. I figure I will start with Persona 4 Golden. I won't be buying any games for a while though with PS Plus and FFX coming bundled.

I understand you. Persona 4 Golden is easily 80+ hours and it has some replay value too. That said, most people find themselves working through it faster than they expected to. Up until 3D world, it was the highest rated game released on new gen systems (3DS, Wii U, Vita, PS4, X1, and PC games in that timeframe).

I really don't have time for FFx now and wasn't going to get it but I couldn't pass up the bundle. I'll just have to beat some games and open up some space.

Also, is Persona considered the best of the Shin Megami tensai metaseries? Those Japanese series are hard to keep up with.

Persona is apart of the same universe and shares some world/gameplay elements like similar enemies and story themes. However, they both play entirely different. The series revolves around social links (relationships with your party members) in order to power up your personas. So, during the day you have a normal life hanging out with friends and other activities, and during night time you have the opportunity to go into the dungeon for the turn based combat.
In vanilla SMT, you recruit monsters to be your party members and have a more straightforward RPG with capture elements.

Depends on who you ask, but I believe the Persona series is better than the normal SMT. It has more variety and is more fun for me to play.
