This game shouldn't be catching shite from fans. It's an incredible remake of the original games. I was skeptical about not being able to battle wild Pokemon but honestly, the game is much more enjoyable with the new mechanics they added.

Just beat the Elite Four and caught Mewtwo

Anyone else picked this up?

I found it to be surprisingly fun and it didn't disappoint me like I expected it to. I didn't enjoy the leveling mechanics at all though. Pokemon just doesn't seem like pokemon without wild battles with chance encounters.

I skipped it because of how you catch Pokemon. Really doesn't look fun.

Yep. It needs some random encounters.

To be fair, some of my enjoyment was the nostalgia of playing a game I grew up with remastered for a modern console. It was great from that perspective and I would recommend it for that alone. It's a game I also decided to skip and only played it because I received it as a gift. Glad I did.

There was something missing from it, though. I won't deny that. Even so, they managed to keep that original pokemon feel for the most part.

love it being an updated and remastered version of yellow

love the slight tweaks like riding Charizard around on the map, love the over the top animations like how they updated the old HMs to fit the titular character without wasting a move slot.

hated the ease in which the game starts off on from a difficulty stand point and never deviates from. I didnt feel like I had any resemblance of resistance until maybe the 5-6 gym and even then it was on the light side.

I enjoy being able to challenge the gym leaders again after the game but wish everyone was still a bit stronger.

for nostalgia as a gen 1 player it was a solid buy...for someone looking for their monies worth...80 dollars for a game you can lax play through in 3 days may not be worth it.

I held off originally because of the criticism but I'm glad I grabbed it. For people who played the originals it's an awesome nostalgia trip. For new people to pokemon I think it's a great intro.

I think that was the main purpose of this game knowing a full fledged new pokemon rpg is coming out down the line.
